Born in one of the world’s most desperate countries, surrounded by poverty and war, Paul grew up under the brutality of colonialism and communism. Raised during a devastating civil war, Paul could not read or write until he was a teenager. However, despite these struggles, he found not only the will to live, but a desire to thrive. Paul’s life is an example of the American Dream and a testament to the possibilities given by this great nation. In the United States, everyone has an opportunity to thrive. That is the beauty and blessing of our representative democracy.
Paul studied, lived and worked throughout the world and continues to give back wherever he sees a need. At the age of 19, Paul served a two year volunteer mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Mormon).
He also worked to advance conditions in both developing and impoverished countries, helping children improve their circumstances and look forward to life with hope.

Paul's background in law enforcement, his honor to law enforcement officers, firefighters and soldiers is shown through his dedication and contribution as a Board Member of the Washington Law Enforcement Officer's & Fire Fighters' (LEOFF) .
Paul’s life shaped the way he sees public policy. Elected officials must listen to and serve the people they represent. A government must be fiscally responsible and responsive to its citizens. Elected officials should not be controlled by the need to compromise, build consensus, or concede their beliefs in order to function in their positions. Elected officials must have the courage to do the right thing even if they stand alone on an issue.
Paul is a fiscal conservative who believes in a market economy. A government should encourage, facilitate and empower entrepreneurship by streamlining regulations to encourage business ownership. Small businesses are the backbone of America.
